In 2015 I am Artist-in-Residence at this lovely 18thC National Trust property in Buckinghamshire. It’s a fascinating House with a wealth of treasures and associations with such renowned figures as Florence Nightingale, who was a regular visitor. Recently the property has been featured in the new film ‘Far from the Madding Crowd’ so on your tour you may recognize some of the locations which were used.
Inspired by aspects of the House and Grounds I aim to produce at least six hand-stitched pictures which will be for sale and displayed upstairs in the Paper Room. I will be regularly available to chat about my work and to demonstrate how I produce my textile collage art. So far I have completed a picture of Claydon in Winter and an interpretation of the newel of the magnificent grand staircase. Cards of my work are available in the Shop as well as mugs.
I hope you can visit Claydon and enjoy the peaceful surroundings as well as the magic and intriguing history of the House. Please see www.nationaltrust.org.uk/claydon for opening times and directions.
I will be demonstrating and chatting to visitors on May 30th and 31st 2015 11am – 5pm and various dates to be confirmed in July and August.
